Councilmember Gallo made a motion, seconded by Councilmember Brooks to set a 30 day public comment period on the proposal for the Police Commission Enabling Ordinance, noting 1) the proposal be posted to the City's website; 2) there will be outreach to appropriate communities so they have opportunity to comment; 3) the authors will then provide a revised draft incorporating the comments made through the comment period, and 4) the authors will return to Rules to schedule the item to a future Public Safety Committee meeting. This motion passed by 4 Ayes. The Committee further established that the proponents will work with the City Administrator's office to make sure a draft is posted to the website, in the interim all comments should be sent to all members of the council, and the 30 day public comment period will commence at the posting of the proposal on the City's webpage.
