The motion carried by the following vote: Votes: ORAICouncilmember Absent: 1 - Councilmember Reid ORAICouncilmember Noes: 2 - Councilmember Brooks and President of the Council De La Fuente ORAICouncilmember Ayes: 5 - Councilmember Brunner, Member Chang, Councilmember Kernighan, Councilmember Nadel and Councilmember Quan A motion was made by Councilmember Brunner seconded by Councilmember Kernighan to amend the resolution as follows: Part 2, Section 9. MINIMUM STAFFING A. No tax authorized by this Ordinance may be collected in any year that the number of police officers employed by the City of Oakland is less than 740. If 740 police officers are employed, then the parcel tax shall be collected as provided for in this Ordinance, except as provided in Section B below. B. The Violence Prevention and Public Safety Act of 2004 (hereinafter referred to as "Measure Y") is in effect until December 31, 2014. While Measure Yor a renewal of Measure Y is in effect, no tax authorized by this Ordinance may be collected in any year that the number of police officers employed by the City of Oakland is less than 803.
