The motion carried by the following vote: Votes: Councilmember Aye: Member Gibson McElhaney, Member Kalb, Member Schaaf and Chair Gallo The Committee Continued the item to a future date and directed staff to provide the following information: 1) Further analysis, a detailed plan and timeline for moving all Animal Services operations to a stand-alone department, or alternatively, a plan to move only the shelter operations to a stand-alone department leaving Animal Control in the Police Department or other department; 2) Further analysis and detailed plan regarding feasibility of having the Public Works Department field Animal Control phone calls; 3) Provide short and long term plans for utilizing community input; 4) Provide a plan for better use of outside resources; and 5) Analyze ability to use PetHarbor. com at the earliest possible date. The Committee also directed staff to bring request to the Committee to allocate funds of $157,983 for 8 additional Animal Care Attendant positions as soon as possible.
